Welcome to
The Catholic Church of Saint Sophia's
" God's Holy Wisdom "

And Welcome to the New Website for Saint Sophia's.

The Parish of St. Sophia's is located in the town of Galston, Ayrshire, Scotland. The Parish is in the Scottish Roman Catholic Diocese of Galloway. Galston is a small community in East Ayrshire.

Together with St. Paul's in Hurlford and Our Lady of the Valley in Darvel, St. Sophia's is one of the three "Valley Parishes".

All three parishes have a historical link and now share the same Priest, Fr. Patrick Lawson, who resides in the presbytery at St. Sophia's.

Fr. Lawson was Ordained by Bishop Maurice Taylor for this Diocese on the 27th of May 1996.

Third Sunday of Lent Year A

The meeting between Jesus and the Samaritan woman gives St. John the occasion to outline the progress of faith by stages. Awoken by some meeting or incident, faith becomes a personal exchange with the saviour, who in the end is recognised in spite of early hesitations and reservations. Led by the Spirit first to the mystery of Jesus, then to changing his way of life, the convert becomes apostle.

Gospel:
John 4:5-42
A spring of water welling up to eternal life.
